Welcome to our monthly coaching newsletter. The intent of this
newsletter is to bring
Coaching to your life - both professional and personal lives. Please
send any stories
and ideas that you would love to contribute. We constantly strive to
include topics=20
and resources that fulfill the needs of the readers.

Included This Month:
1. Quote of the Month
2. Reasons and Results
3. The Two Choices We Face
4. The Joy of Winning
5. Coaching Tip

******************************************************************

"I slept - and dreamed that life was joy. I woke - and saw that=20
life was but service. I served - and understood that service was=20
joy." -- Rabindranath Tagore=20

******************************************************************
Over the summer the newsletter managed to change from a monthly=20
format to a non-existent format! Well, here it is again. In a=20
different format. With a move of Country, a new position in my=20
professional life, and transitioning for my family into the new=20
location, I began to use these reasons for 'why' to not sit and=20
publish the newsletter. Of course I had many reasons, and yes=20
people would understand. =20

Then I woke up and 'got' that even at this level I was using excuses. =20
A wonderful mentor has taught me in life that there are reasons, and=20
there are results. The reasons are all the rationalizations and=20
justifications. If I took that energy, and put it into constructive=20
actions, then the tasks or issues would be tackled. =20

Now this is a lessons that I was sure that I had gotten!!!
Yet here it was surfacing in my life again. On a simple level like=20
publishing the newsletter. So - I made a choice. To publish again=20
this month, in a format where I brought you some wonderful work by=20
great authors and coaches. Each piece has been referenced so that=20
you can see where they came from, and use their wonderful resources.

And - who knows what next months will look like!

The Two Choices We Face by Jim Rohn

Each of us has two distinct choices to make about what we will do=20
with our lives. The first choice we can make is to be less than we=20
have the capacity to be. To earn less. To have less. To read less and=20
think less. To try less and discipline ourselves less. These are the=20
choices that lead to an empty life. These are the choices that,=20
once made, lead to a life of constant apprehension instead of a=20
life of wondrous anticipation.

And the second choice? To do it all! To become all that we can=20
possibly be. To read every book that we possibly can. To earn as=20
much as we possibly can. To give and share as much as we possibly=20
can. To strive and produce and accomplish as much as we possibly=20
can. All of us have the choice.

To do or not to do. To be or not to be. To be all or to be less=20
or to be nothing at all.

Like the tree, it would be a worthy challenge for us all to=20
stretch upward and outward to the full measure of our capabilities.=20
Why not do all that we can, every moment that we can, the best=20
that we can, for as long as we can?

Our ultimate life objective should be to create as much as our=20
talent and ability and desire will permit. To settle for doing less=20
than we could do is to fail in this worthiest of undertakings.

Results are the best measurement of human progress. Not=20
conversation. Not explanation. Not justification. Results!=20
And if our results are less than our potential suggests that=20
they should be, then we must strive to become more today than=20
we were the day before. The greatest rewards are always reserved=20
for those who bring great value to themselves and the world around=20
them as a result of who and what they have become.

The Joy of Winning
By Philip Humbert
www.philiphumbert.com

What I noticed is that the joy of winning is based upon,
but is enormously DIS-proportional to the effort required
to achieve it. Let me explain.

I have a sense that as a culture, we are taking fewer and
fewer risks in the mistaken notion that, on average, this
will bring more more happiness for more people. Unfortunately, it=20
doesn't work that way. The pride and personal satisfaction of great=20
achievement only comes from taking risks and working hard in the pursuit

of your dreams.

Here's an extreme example: Would you choose the triumphs
and tragedies of a thrilling life, or the mediocrity of a
life that was "average" in all respects? I think the
answer is obvious! Human beings NEED challenge and we hate being=20
"average".

No one consciously chooses a life of boring mediocrity, and
yet we are drifting in exactly that direction.

Where once America was a nation that advised, "Go west
young man" and told both women and men to strike out, seek their
fortune,=20
take risks and find adventure, today we are determined to contain, if
not=20
eliminate, virtually all risk.

As a frequent traveler, one of my "pet peeves" is the focus
on airline safety. Obviously, no one wants a repeat of
9/11; it was a monstrous act of war. Of course we must
take steps to protect ourselves, but we have become a
nation obsessed with avoiding risk, and we are sacrificing
the rewards that come only from taking reasonable risks to reach=20
our goals.

What does this have to do with achievement and living the
good life? It has to do with our willingness to invest ourselves and=20
take risks to fulfill our potential.

Gary and I worked very hard to win that tournament. True,
we benefited from some lucky bounces, but we also played
well, stayed calm and patient and focused, and worked very, very hard=20
until in the end, we had the lowest score.

The feeling of triumph was magnificent! Yes, the hours of practice=20
were hard, and golf is an expensive, time- consuming hobby (ask Mary=20
about being a "golf widow"), but in the end the joy of finally winning=20
is FAR, FAR greater than the minor inconveniences of preparing to win.

As a nation, and as individuals, we must take risks and
invest ourselves in order to triumph.

There was risk in President Kennedy's commitment to landing
men on the moon. Amelia Earhart accepted the risks of
flying around the world. The crew of every space shuttle accepts the=20
risks of spaceflight, and not all return safely.

There is risk in pursuing your dreams. There is work and effort=20
and investment, and you might lose, but that is the price of triumph. =20
There are no great victories purchased at the "bargain counter" of life.

Invest yourself. Throw your heart and all that you have
into your endeavors. If you lose, it will hurt and be upsetting, but if

you win, there is a joy and satisfaction beyond compare. Human beings
were=20
not made to sit still. We must explore, we must adventure and try. In
your=20
own world, in whatever way is calling to you, GO FOR IT!

Coaching Tip:

There are reasons, and then there are results!
What excuses are you using today? List the reasons you have been using
Not to complete a project, to put energy into an area of your life.
Uncover all the little pieces that are holding you back. Take simple
Actions, which will build to create results in your life.
